View Full Version : I am thinking of doing a tranny swap...... jimbents 05-07-2005, 05:38 PM Is it possible to put in a 5speed manual, if so what other parts do I need besides the tranny? DON2.0T 05-07-2005, 06:59 PM the conversion will cost you around 10k. Is it worth it, well its upt to you jimbents 05-08-2005, 05:35 PM .......10k thats BS..I have connections here in astoria plus I invested 12k in my car Im not selling it.... Bert 05-09-2005, 01:01 AM besides just the tranny, - possibly a new brake master cyliner (clutch and brake use the same reservoir). - possibly a new slave cylinder if the tranny does not come with one. - new throwout bearing, pilot bearing, pressure plate, clutch plate - possibly a new flywheel and/or starter - new clutch pedal assembly - new brake pedal assembly to go with the clutch - new wiring harness for the clutch assembly (safety start feature and cruise control turn off) - possibly a new driveshaft (if the length of the trannies are different) - new instrument cluster (if you want to get rid of the PRNDL even if it works) - possibly a new center console (or fab something if the hole for the shift lever are not the same) - recode the ECU - don't know if anything else involved in unplugging the tip shift module. All that plus labor, if you don't do the work youself. I would personally go with Don's suggestion if I were in your shoes. HA, remember these aren't collector cars, so don't go putting money into a car and think it's an investment ;-) If you want a manual, just get another car with a manual, I'm sure you can swap out your upgraded parts to the new car. If you don't want to go that route, get a GIAC Tip-chip. |
