I think this is new, but has anybody else seen the RMI, Inc. Stages I and II Polish and Porting done for the 2.8 30v, sold through New Dimensions? They said they added products to the Audi line, and that they were on sale, and this is on sale...but I didn't think there was much to port and polish? When I had asked this question before several years ago, I was told that Audi has already done a great job, and there's no reason to have it done aftermarket.

New Dimensions seems to think it is worth $1400 ($1600 non-sale price) for a Stage II, $900 (sale price again) for a Stage I. I'm thinking about doing it...I'll attach a link for all that are interested. I'm not sure this will take you right to the page with the correct listing, so just go to the New Dimensions homepage (http://www.ndimports.com), click on "Performance Parts" button, click on the "Audi" button on the left hand frame of the screen, choose "A4 & S4" from the new menu in the left frame, choose "Engine Performance", go to the third page, and look at the second and third items in the listing.

I'm sorry, those are long and potentially confusing directions, but the fact is that the catalog is indexed in a way where I cannot give you an accurate hyperlink, and that's the fastest way I found to show you what I'm talking about. The website is a little...difficult...sometimes.

Would you consider doing it to your 30v? I've got this obsession with maxing out my naturally aspirated potential before supercharging, so I'm considering it. I'll do it no matter what...I was just wondering what everyone else thinks about it. I'm even considering doing that ($1600) instead of getting my header + race cats ($1780). Not because of price, but mainly because it'd be cool to be one of the first to try it. :)

but their description is very limited.. I would ask a lot of questions.

Dynos?
Core?
Turn-around?
Differences between Stg1 and Stg2?

If I have the money... I definitely will do this first before the headers/cats.

remember to take a lot of pictures.
if you can, please do a baseline dyno run before the upgrade. That way we'll know the reall difference.

My car has 140K miles on it, and I'm sure that particularly the valves and such could use a good rebuild. The port and polish is pretty thorough with those engines components, includes a multi-angle valve adjustment, and basically puts in new components (there is a core charge included in the price). Since I'll be needing something like that anyway, and the price is a grand a half (nothing compared to a $5,000 supercharger), I don't mind playing guinea pig. This once.

I say do it.. I'd follow in your footsteps if all goes well. And as was said.. if you have access to a dyno, all the better.
