So today I finally received a letter in the mail that announces a recall for my control arms, something I've been waiting for almost a good two years (that's when everyone else in the world had their control arms replaced for free). Mine are definitely covered under the recall, since they are noticeably screwed up.

Has anybody here encountered any dealers unwilling to perform a recall because of aftermarket modifications? I'm not even sure that they can avoid a recall if your car is modified, but I thought I'd send out a quick post and see if I catch any replies.

front upper control arms and I don't think the recall will reimburse me for that. I have no idea what effect the mods will have. I'm going to be finding out too.

can you get them checked/replaced if you are not the original owner? I'm the 4th (!) owner.

I'm the second owner, and I've had one thing replaced under recall previously. The recall applies to any and all owners of the car, not just the original. Recalls, if you don't already know, stem from potentially costly problems (due to lawsuits) that the car company believes is cheaper to fix than to pay potential damages to harmed customers.
