I'm wondering if its good idea to remove the engine and trans as one unit or should I remove the trans seperate ?

I'm pulling this out of a 2000 A4 5spd quattro.

thanks for any help.

time but the a4 the whole front comes off easy and it's easy to unbolt the tranny. But what are you trying to do? Pull them both to swap into another car or just need to pull the motor?

<center><img src="http://www.markradovan.com/DSC05845.JPG"></center><p>this 2000 a4 1.8 was in a front ender.
the bumper was not damaged and the air bags did not deploy. the engine and hood took most of the impact.
Broke both trans mounts and one motor mount, the fan clutch and the plastic colant housing on the back side of the enigine + minor body damage at the right side of the fire wall.

the car still ran smooth even after the accident.
BTW the engine and trans come out beautifully together.
Removing the engine and trans was straight forward and painless.

I need to do my timming, water pump, clutch and flywheel, also, i need to take a look at my turbo and i was planning on doing this all at the same time. So my thought was, since ive helped in a few S4 engine pulls, how hard would doing the TT's engine out be??

Yea i agree, it's easier as 1 unit

the whole front end comes off in under an hour so, takin everything off is super ez
