...an altitude where my NA 12v loses a good deal of it's power, while the turbo 1.8Ts do not.

A modded/chipped 1.8T? Well, I'm wanting to find out about that. Anyone want to go for a drive?

2:00 vs 2:02 mins consistently at Laguna Seca

But then I recently tweaked the TT suspension, although it still gets whooped on the AutoX.

Next year, the A4 will run under 2 minutes at Laguna. It's tough for me making the TT catch up :P

Of course it's not a matter of engine - which is why we won the latest European Car 1.8T challenge with an A4 ;)

Had a 1993 90 with the full set of AA mods... MAF through XTB with poor man's ram air. Now have a 2001 1.8T with Giac X chip and cat back exhaust.

Significantly more power and much better mileage.

Sadly the 12V was a more driveable engine. None of the sudden bursts of power with a turbo coming on that the 01 has.

You couldn't keep up with your friend's stock 30V, whereas I regularly whipped two friends with 30Vs.

But I have no doubt a chipped 1.8T is faster - turbos are just sooo tunable. :)

I thought I could escape all you 12vers when I bought the new Passat 1.8t... Gees. :-P
