Hi and thanks!
I just changed the pads and rotors on my Audi 90Q and have ran into an issue. It seems that the brake pads are holding after my first pedal depression.
The car has boxster front calipers and the a8 rotors in the front and stock rears.
I removed the calipers, changed the pads and installed the new rotor. The brake pistons seem to be moving freely and I put the caliper with new pads back on the rotor and everything slid back on nice. The rotor rotated freely once all back together.
Until,
I hopped in the car pumped the brakes a few and the brake light flashes and the pedal goes down pretty far. I try to move the car and it seems that the brakes are stuck 'on'.
Jacked the car back up and the rotors are really tight. Gave the rotor a few wacks with a rubber mallet, and the rotor now spins freely again.
Went back in the car to pump the brakes, same thing they won't let go after the first couple pumps.
I checked the fluid, it was okay, I even removed some hoping it would reduce some pressure. Same issue, the brakes squeeze and don't let go.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I just can't think about what I missed or am doing wrong. The brakes operated perfectly before I changed the pads and rotors. I didn't disconnect any lines during the process.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks
James
