I noticed that my rotors are developing a thin rim around the outside edge where I'm guessing the pad isn't contacting them. Normal or Trouble?

Get the dealer to check them to see if youve lost too much rotor. This is totally normal.

i wouldn't trust the dealer... i'd think they'd be ready to sell me new parts.

I just replaced the brake pads on my 2000 A4 (original owner) with 55k mileage. I have also notice the brake pads have railroaded onto the rotor. This is the first time I have change brake pads (my indicator went on) and I had plenty of pad left. I usually take the car to a mechanic who also has an 2000 A4. Now I am a bit suspicous, although I don't know why he would do this as a pair of EBC rotors cost only $230. Has anyone else had their rotors wear out this fast?
