Went to get my tires rotated today. They said my control arms are loose. If the pin is in place, can it pop off even if the ball joint is worn? Not sure if I'm risking getting in an accident or if this thing can wait until it gets warmer out??

I have the same problem - front left wheel moves front to back about 1mm when you push on it while car's in the air. A friend said just like a ball joint it shouldn't pop out, but if neglected too long may break. I've been winging it for a while myself.

i've had the same issue for 6 times.six times i had to change all of my inner, outer upper links. don't worry, they won't pop out. i personaly opened one up and saw how they were made. crappy conception. it is a simple ball joint that is surrounded by a plastic sleeve which in return is inside the aluminum arm. that's why they wear off. the ball joint moves around, wears off the plastic and "et voila"!! like i said, i've changed them several times.alot has to do with road conditions. up here in quebec, the road are awfull!!! don' break your head, change all of them at the same time. make sure that you respect the height of the arm, plus or minus 4mm from the top plate. if you exeed that, it will then create a stress on the bushing of the arm. good luck.

This keeps happening?!?!?!?!? I have just replaced almost all of mine so far. I still have a noise in front cause I still have 1 more to go. Its very expensive. Is there another alternative or am I just wasting money. I love my car..but I'm having sooo many problems with it! I have a 97 audi a4 quattro 1.8T.
