Greetings all,
- I have been away from the forum for some time as I've been out of the country and just recently switched jobs after 9 years.

- My new job does not provide me a company car, therefore my A6 has now become my daily driver. I had Eibach Pro-kit springs installed on a non-sport suspension about 4 years ago by the dealer and now the ride quality is really too bumpy/bouncy as I think the stock shocks are done.

- Searching the forum the last couple of days I was torn between getting coilovers vs. just upgrading my shocks. I'm looking for a solid feel and a smooth ride. I don't see the $ value in getting a coilover setup so I think I will go with shocks and maybe sway bars.

- My questions are:
1] What setup do you all suggest based on your experiences? I was considering Koni Sport shocks which are on sale for about $500 at Pure Motorsport vs. the Bilsteins for about $400.
2] Should I be concerned about the ride height dropping even more going with the new shocks and existing Eibach sport springs?
3] Would adding H-Sport sway bar kit ($375) with new shocks improve the ride/handling?
4] Any good independent shops in the NJ/Philadelphia area that can do the install & 4 wheel alignment? What should I expect to pay? Dealer quoted $520 for labor not including alignment, but they will not install aftermarket products.

TIA,
-DJ

I like Bilsteins more than Konis, and you already have Eibach springs. If I were you - I would just get the Bilstein Sport shocks to go with the existing Eibach springs. You can also call Eibach and see if they can sell you the shocks that they include in their spring+shock kits.

I have Eibach shocks with the same springs as yours. Good ride and control for the street. Bilsteins can be harsh. New shocks will not change ride height. Sway bars WILL improve handling and may add a little firmness to ride. All these decisions depend on how "sporty" you want to be. IMHO

Thanks for your response, I just ordered Koni shocks from Pure Motorsport for $500 for a set of 4. I want a solid ride with softness as well. I'm also considering adding H-Sport sways. Now if I can just find a good indy shop in NJ/PA that will do the install!

Cheers,

Hi,

I have a 2000 2.7T Quattro and just put some new sneakers on the car today...ContiExtreme contact all weather sporty tires. I also need to replace the shocks. Can you tell me if you've put on the new shocks, how the ride is treating you. It is my daily driver, I'd like a firm and responsive but somewhat forgiving ride...I don't want to feel the worm I run over either! Can you tell me if you're happy...also I live in PA...did you find a shop?! thx, John

Just ordered the Koni's last week and they haven't arrived yet. Still need to order the sway bars too as I was unsure if I wanted them or not, but will probably get them to complete the package. I've been busy with my new job so haven't had a lot of time to look into indy shops yet that have worked on Audi's. I will post an update as soon as I finalize everything.

Stay tuned,
DJ
