pulled the rear shelf out and still can't see it - looks like it should be right behind the seat belt mount.

There is a hole in the metal there directly above the strut, but there is a bunch of foam - do I need to rip that out of there to access the bolts?

There are 2 cushions between the seat back and each side door. Remove those side cushions, and that will reveal the top of the shock mounts.
