flat tires. :-(
Several months ago, I noticed that one of my front tires had a nail in it. It may or may not have been there when I bought the car, but I didn't see it for several months, and the tire was holding pressure.
When I finally saw the nail, I went to put on the spare. There was also a nail in that tire, and it was bald, so I got the dealer to replace both wheel & tire. And I got my front tire patched. (I put the new one on the car and used the patched tire as my spare.)
Today I was out running errands, driving over chunks of ice. I finally put my winter tires on the car over the weekend -- a set of used Borbet wheels with Dunlop M3 tires. I noticed several other cars on the road had flat tires. When I looked at the passenger side of my car, I noticed that the front tire was almost completely flat. So in the post office parking lot, in subzero temperatures, I got out the factory jack and put on my spare. Glad that I keep a breaker bar in the trunk, not just the crappy lug wrench that Audi gives us. Tire change took me about 5 minutes.
I took the flat to my local shop, and they told me that I drove on the tire just long enough to ruin it. I probably drove a total of 1 mile from my house, with 3 stops. So I don't know exactly when I got the flat.
Called up TireRack and ordered two new snow tires. Probably should have ordered four, but the other 3 are still in decent shape (even though I bought them used).
I'm glad that they are even still available this late in the year! And especially that the M3s have been discontinued.
