View Full Version : looking to get steering wheel with shift paddles, were and part # MIKE185 09-08-2007, 05:43 AM mksap11 09-08-2007, 07:05 AM

http://forums.audiworld.com/a4b7/msgs/47199.phtml</a

billybobster 09-08-2007, 09:11 AM My car came with the paddles. It's a 2008 Tip S-Line, plus the Audi USA seems to imply that all 2008 Tips come with paddles. Anyway, paddles are fun and all, but for serious driving they are often not useful. I've found that in the highly twisty bits, the wheel is so cranked over that the paddle I want is really hard to reach. I have to go over to the shifter to get a gear. Haven't talked to another Audi owner about this but heard the same from other people with nice cars with paddles. Race cars (F1 for example) have high steering ratios so the paddles are generally always in reach. But even for F1, look at a Monaco in-car video and some of their shifts look pretty cumbersome. Street cars with normal human steering ratios just sometimes put the paddles out of reach. So you might want to reconsider whether the effort and expense of a swap is worth it. I'd suggest talking to others that have them. |
