View Full Version : Picked up new Avant last night, how do I get rid of passenger airbag light? sedlmi 02-28-2007, 10:06 AM Gorobei 02-28-2007, 10:09 AM PetrolDave 02-28-2007, 10:26 AM sieben 02-28-2007, 11:24 AM Tgr_Clw 02-28-2007, 11:26 AM Gorobei 02-28-2007, 11:30 AM southsong 02-28-2007, 12:57 PM DitchSurfer11937 02-28-2007, 03:27 PM PanzerWagon 03-01-2007, 04:49 AM RKJ 03-01-2007, 06:08 AM Gorobei 03-01-2007, 09:06 AM Gorobei 03-01-2007, 09:06 AM PanzerWagon 03-02-2007, 04:59 AM PetrolDave 03-02-2007, 08:15 AM that makes it think there's a passenger sitting in the seat without the belt on. If the seat is empty and the light is still on then go straight back to the dealer because you have a fault in the airbag system. Gorobei 03-02-2007, 08:28 AM If the light is on, you know the airbag is off. When someone sits down in the passenger seat after the car is already started, the DIS tells me that the passenger airbag is now on and the little yellow light in the center console blinks for a few seconds and then shuts off. I think the system is there to remind you to be careful w/ young kids, since it takes xx amount of lbs. to turn on the airbag. Like I said, I got used to it in a few weeks. RickS 03-02-2007, 09:39 PM Open the glove box from the inside edge of the trim piece (where the glove box closed hides it) gently pry the plastic trim piece off that goes above the switches. pull the airbag light/swith out cover the inside of the swith with 2 layers of elecrical tape reverse the order if you try to go from underneath, by prying the switch itself, you will damage the stereo face plate. RickS 03-02-2007, 09:41 PM s4love 03-03-2007, 07:48 AM an example of american engineering getting in German cars perhaps? Either way, agreed it is retarded Gorobei 03-03-2007, 09:54 AM You stated: "If the seat is empty and the light is still on then go straight back to the dealer because you have a fault in the airbag system" In US spec cars, if the seat is empty the light SHOULD be on because the button clearly says "Passener Air Bag Off". Now if you have an adult passenger and the light is on, THEN you should head to the dealer. I don't know what lights you guys get in the UK, but it's very likely it's different. |
