I picked up a 2.0 in mid june. Day of pickup, they found a rock chip so they replaced the windshield. 1 month later, the rearview mirror falls off. They said any dealership will fix it under warranty, so i brought it to the closest one which is an hour away since my original one is over 3 hours away. They fixed it and everything seemed well.

2 months later, it falls off again except this time it took off a piece of the windshield. Customer relations told me to go to the dealer, take pictures, and then they will resolve the issue between the 2 dealers. The supervisor told me that i will not pay a dime and one of the 2 will fix it.

Fast forward to today, they tell me it was due to outside impact.

When i went to my original dealer, they told me it was due to the improper repair done by the other dealer.

2nd dealer said its due to non audi wndshield.

Basically they're saying i ripped it off myself and they aren't going to help me.

Summary: 3 months, have to replace windshield b/c warranty doesn't cover anything.

So the Audi dealer #1 replaced your windshield with an non-Audi windshield? I'd go back to the dealer #1 and push that issue and get the local Audi rep involved. If the dealer put on the Repair Order that they used an Audi windshield and they didn't the dealer can get in BIG trouble with Audi over warranty work. You should have a copy of the RO. If there is an Audi part number for the windshield and it's not an Audi windshield - could be problems for the dealer.

I had my mirror fall off a week after getting a new windshield. It took a little time but I was able to get it back on myself. Most likely yours wasn't replaced properly (as was mine).

What kind of comprehensive insurance coverage do you have? If the windshield is cracked you could have insurance pay for a new Audi windshield and end this headache once and for all.

Just some thoughts...

I agree with John that this may fall under your comprehensive coverage.

Just out of curiosity, who were you dealing with when you found the original rock chip? Did the delivering dealer take care of this for you? If so, then I don't see how a non-Audi windshield should be your problem if Audi's warranty agent (the dealer) provided it. Not that it wouldn't affect the warranty, but that it would be a problem between them and Audi (and totally transparent to you) if it did affect the warranty.
