Audi Loyalist 04-23-2006, 10:28 AM This previous thread may be of use to you. I agree with the little devil that you should do hard accelerations and decelerations to burn those rings into place Are you picking yours up at Momentum Audi near Rice Village? If so, there's plenty of local driving before you can hit the freeways and do a proper break-in. Whatever you do, don't use cruise, and vary your speed a bit on the freeways (60, 80, 50, 70).

http://forums.audiworld.com/a4b7/msgs/41688.phtml</a

JakePlummer 04-23-2006, 12:08 PM cbymene 04-23-2006, 04:23 PM I don't think you need to break in the car. I think the manufacturers have already done the break in before they put the cars up on the market. SoCalB7 04-23-2006, 04:45 PM There is a 1,000 mile break-in period. Break-in is not as involved as it once was, but you still need to do it. To the OP: don't use cruise control or drive at steady speeds during the break-in. Vary your engine speeds through the lower-to-high-middle part of the rev range, but don't wind it out to redline. If you have a manual transmission, I'd vary both the speeds and gears. sieben 04-24-2006, 08:51 AM I've got 1100 miles and never redlined it, and tried to shift below 5k RPMs. I tried to hit 6th often, as well. What is bad about keeping a constant engine speed? maaliish 04-24-2006, 10:27 AM SoCalB7 04-24-2006, 03:55 PM |
