Picking up my new A4 2.0 Quattro sport line Sedan in Houston tommorow and driving it back to the Valley, about 300 miles. Any thoughts on how to drive back the car?

decelerations, it will help to seat the rings. Whatever you don't drive it steady.

Are you picking yours up at Momentum Audi near Rice Village? If so, there's plenty of local driving before you can hit the freeways and do a proper break-in.

I don't think you need to break in the car. I think the manufacturers have already done the break in before they put the cars up on the market.

There is a 1,000 mile break-in period. Break-in is not as involved as it once was, but you still need to do it.

To the OP: don't use cruise control or drive at steady speeds during the break-in. Vary your engine speeds through the lower-to-high-middle part of the rev range, but don't wind it out to redline. If you have a manual transmission, I'd vary both the speeds and gears.

I've got 1100 miles and never redlined it, and tried to shift below 5k RPMs. I tried to hit 6th often, as well.

What is bad about keeping a constant engine speed?
