my folks are looking for a euro wagon or suv. they've looked at the volvo xc70 (dad has an s60R), vw toureag and a few others. i mentioned the a4 avant which seemed like an interesting idea. i'd like to send them this thread, with hopefully some good pics to entice them a bit.

question though, is the rear hatch low enough two good size dogs could jump into it?

Thanks guys

Depending how big the dogs are, it shouldn't be a problem... if anything it's easier (I think) since its lower than an SUV. I've have two dogs (45lb mix and 60-70lb golden without a problem)

I still have that sweet desktop photo you posted the VWVortex ~2 years ago (rear end stationary shot against fast moving traffic at night).

The S-line package basically adds 18" wheels, sport suspension, onyx and brushed interior, different front and rear bumpers, as well as some other minor aesthetic changes.

as far as the dog question, I have a 60lb Lab/Chow and she can jump right in. The back is not huge, though. I would suggest getting the rear bumper cover from ABT to avoid scatches.

stasis?

thanks for the heads up on the bumper cover. i think thats a great idea. i told my dad to make a 2' x 2' box for them to step on, then jump into the back.

thanks for the pics!

got a killer deal on the avant, and $24k trade in for the touareg with 53k miles on it.

Your dolphin grey looks good. When I bought mine, there were only red, black, quartz grey, and silver metallic S-line cars. If I could have, my 2 main choices would've been either ocean blue or dolphin grey but those weren't available on the 06 models for another at least a couple of months.
