Hi everyone...

Those with factory bi-xenon, can you please spare a few minutes to help me find out the following:

1) With your keys in the off position and light switch in the off position, and you try to flash your high beam, does it work?
2) With your keys in the battery position and light switch in the off position, and you try to flash your high beam, does it work?
3) What light comes on when you activate DRL?
4) Does your fog come on with your DRL?
5) If yes to 4), what happens when you are at the parking light position, does the fog and DRL stay? If no to 4), will the fog come on if you try to pull the switch out once at the parking light position?
6) For those with VAG, can you please tell me what is the code in 'central electronics'?

Thanks guys for the help. I need to know these to troubleshoot some switch (and possibly wiring) problem after an OEM bi-xenon retrofit.

Hi thanks for the reply. It will be helpful if someone can tell me if their fogs come on with DRL?
TIA.

But do the fogs come on automatically with the DRL?

(In the US, anyway) the fogs won't come on unless the switch is pulled out a click. Meanwhile the DRLs use a completely different bulb and only work with the switch turned all the way to the left, in a position from which the switch can't be pulled out.

Plus, I've also heard that (since 2003 at the latest) fogs have been wired so they won't work unless the headlights are on.

I don't know if there's different wiring outside the US, if you're outside the US or using non-US parts, or if there's any country where the DRL and foglight might use the same bulb. So to that extent, YMMV.

Hope that helps.

Exactly the confirmation I need. Once again thanks for your help.

BTW, that also means the fogs won't come on in the parking light position (even though you can pull the switch out).

And for VAG, I have a US setting of STG-9 code=01023. With that value you can control DRLs from the switch, you get amber front parking lights, and your fogs will work only when your low beams are on.

If you recode to 01021 ("rest of world"), your front parking lights use the white "city lights" only, your fogs will work with low or high beams, and you get a side marker function from the turn signals when the ignition and lights are off.

the ability to turn on the fogs when the parking lights are on....so I can get that "ghetto" look when I want. ;-)
