the dealerships seem to have quattros with no packages, not even xenons
or they have FWDs almost fully loaded
is the quattro worth the money for someone most planning on doing much modding if any?
wouldnt having all the luxury be more important?
what do you all suggest he do?

Wet, dry, rain, etc, but is also added weight to the vehicle.
Is he an 'enthusiastic' driver? He might appreciate quattro. If he just wants a nice, well-equipped car, maybe FWD is OK for him.
Personally, I wouldn't buy an Audi without quattro - it's the biggest selling feature for me. But I live in a wet climate that does seesnow from time to time (and quite often when I go to mountains).

I mean, sure, the B7 with all the luxury and Quattro is expensive but a lot of that stuff really aren't that important. Just my two cents but I have a feeling many will agree.

You are going to get varying opinions on a question like this, which is why they have a list of options you can get lost in, LOL.
Personally, I wouldn't buy without quattro.
The car shines as an AWD vehicle.
Xenons aren't important to me, but are to others.
My "must haves" were: sport suspension, quattro, leather/sunroof, 2.0T (for aftermarket upgradeability) and 6 speed.
Once I saw the S-line, I just couldn't buy the non s-line car. The S-line just makes the car look so complete.
For others it's not worth the added cost.
It's really all about you.

The dealer can borrow vehicles from other dealers ya know. They might charge him a few hundred to have it shipped though, but who cares when you get the car you want. I would NEVER buy an Audi without quattro. I've had both now and can say quattro is awesome.

That's like asking how important Bball shoes are.
IMHO the quattro, fit & finish and the sweet interior are the reasons you choose Audi... well that a chip friendly turbo! (that I still haven't had the time to go get, damn that career)
As much as I love all the packages, I'd opt for the Quattro over a FWD car!!! C'mon man... if it were RWD then MAYBE.

Quattro is a very capable AWD system. It has advantages over RWD or FWD in these two applications, which have some overlap:
Bad weather traction: snow, ice, rain, loose pavement.
Dividing power among four wheels instead of two, as on a track or at the limit of adhesion.
And it has disadvantages:
The car has more complexity, so there's more to go wrong, and it weighs more and has more driveline to take power.
If you live where you're driving in bad weather a lot, AWD is nice to have and Audi's is among the best. And their cars are generally solid, nicely-built, and safe.

I crack up thinking what my 3.2 would be like without AWD.
Snow's coming off the roads, got my spring tires on, and going full throttle first gear, getting all that torque to the road is a blast!
