This way over time you can easilly get upgrades, etc. ckandes1 01-04-2006, 08:23 PM If you have a 1.8t than i suggest either GIAC or APR. GIAC comes with the most options, and if you are to upgrade your car, like switch in a K04 turbo for instance, GIAC would be able to rehip your car at a fair price to match the new specifications. APR on the other hand does not have alot of options and does not have a K04 specific chip. But for a stock 1.8t, they put out more power than any other chip out there. and APR WILL work with a K04 perfectly fine (better than a stock chip still), but maybe not as well as GIAC. ckandes1 01-04-2006, 08:25 PM an ECU, or your car's computer. short we just call it chip. and when someone says get a chip, they really mean upgrade from stock. to do that you may buy a completely new chip, or just simply have your current one reflashed (reprogrammed) which is more common. what this will do for you is give you power. ALOT of power if you have a 1.8t Tgr_Clw 01-04-2006, 08:29 PM JBSMOOTH 01-04-2006, 08:29 PM SENAT0R 01-04-2006, 08:31 PM bhvrdr 01-04-2006, 08:33 PM multiple programs for the B7 A4 and K03 B6 A4 including stock, valet, 91, 93, 100 octane that can all be switched using the cruise control stalk. It can be switched to stock mode and locked that way for dealership visits. It can also have a security lockout feature to keep theives from starting the car. cheers! Mike SENAT0R 01-04-2006, 08:33 PM by the way, my last boyfriend had an A4 that looked exactly like yours. With the stock rims and high suspension and all. ckandes1 01-04-2006, 08:47 PM i spoke to one of the APR technicians (definately was not one of the normal phone people, knew way too much) and i asked specifiacally what i need to do if i upgrade my turbo. He told me that PR did not make a chip specifically for the K04 turbo yet and they werent going to anytime soon. But he also stated that the k03 apr chip will work with a k04 upgrade. It will still be better than a stock chip by a good bit, but not as good as other chips tuend specifically to the k04 upgrade. though this was for the b5 platform (i just realized i'm in the b7 forums heheh i hope i didnt post anything stupid) i would imagine all goes the same for the B7's. bhvrdr 01-04-2006, 08:58 PM Techs almost never answer the phone. They are busy working on cars. I figured you were talking about B6 as the B7 does not have turbo upgrades yet. B6 K03 software from APR will not work with a K04. I have been in contact with two people who attempted this and it results in overboost and timing problems. APR does not advocate this. Sometimes the phone people get confused about what model and tech questions. cheers!
