Planning to do my 5k service there within this month. Wanted to get that free car wash after I take it up to the slopes this weekend.

It looked much better. The service rep mentioned that it was being handwashed. They seemed to do a really good job. I noticed when I take the vehicle in on the weekends, they don't seem to want to wash the vechicle (this just might be my misinterpretation)... ????

Just discovered they forgot to put the engine cover back after last 15k (service two Saturdays ago) - I'm thinking that perhaps Saturdays may not be the be day to get serious services done. I hope there is nothing else that was not put back!!!! :0

Remember their not detailing it, Just a quick rinse. The faster their done with your car, the faster they get to the next guy.

I used to decline, but as of lately they have been doing a really good job of it at Carlsen, so I let them do it. Last time the car came out like new, even though I handed it to them straight from a camping trip.

If they don't wash it then it will be noted in their service survey and points are taken off.

If you care about the appearance of your car and the quality of your finish, I'd suggest you read the Detailing forum here.

Admittedly, at first I had had my doubts about spending the extra bucks on high-cost polish, glaze and sealants, waffle-weave towels and the like, but this stuff does wonders to preserve your car's finish and is much easier to work with than the stuff you'll find at Pep Boys.

Between maintaining the exterior myself (no one else has washed my car since I bought it), using high-quality materials and garaging the car whenever possible, my finish looks brand new even after several months of ownership, and even without the use of a buffer. At the very least, it will help you to maximize the value of your car at trade-in time, and the women will appreciate it.

I had two Santorin cars before, and they were "dirty" a minute after being washed. Very good looking for a few hours after a wax, but ... let's say that my priorities have somewhat changed, and my silver S4 (where I had no choice in color) taught me the beauty of low maintenance.

Given the choice of un-colors in the current S4 color line-up, the decision for Dolphin was easy. The car washes itself - all I need to do is wash the rims once a week or two. The leasing company does not give me a bonus for a perfect car after 3 years, either - and as for women - well, my wife likes it the way it is just fine =)

I brought my black B5 in for service and I had just clayed/polished/waxed it a few days earlier. It didn't need to be washed, but they washed it. It looked fine until I pulled into the sun and noticed lotsa swirl marks. After that I always asked them not to wash it.

Just took B7 in for an early oil change at 2,200 miles (I'm old school about engine break-in/first oil change). They washed the car and it looks fine. I'm not sure if it's the grey paint or if they just did a better job. I really like the tire dressing they put on the car when it was delivered and again when it was washed, it's not too greasy looking and last for weeks.

I told the car wash guy how much I liked it and he showed me the 5-gallon cube it comes in so I could get the info. Unfortunately, the text was smuged and unreadable, so he filled up a 32oz spray bottle and gave it to me. Score!

You'll get swirl marks or scratches if it's not done properly. Mine has always come back scratched so I decline.
