I purchased a "stripper" '06 A4 MT avant and now I'm regretting not getting a few options like the trip computer. Does anyone know of a way to put one in after the fact?

View Full Version : retrofit trip computer? tufstnwgn 01-04-2006, 10:19 AM I purchased a "stripper" '06 A4 MT avant and now I'm regretting not getting a few options like the trip computer. Does anyone know of a way to put one in after the fact? Tanner 01-04-2006, 10:27 AM As this question was raised elsewhere, what I read is that it's not easy to do. The trip computer is tied into the gauge cluster and replacing the guage cluster is not a trivial thing to do since it needs to be coded to match the code somewhere else (not sure if it's the ECU but might be for the immobilizer). tufstnwgn 01-04-2006, 10:36 AM Thanks for the quick response. I guess I'll just have to live without minute to minute gas mileage. stanj 01-04-2006, 11:25 AM A replacement cluster goes for $1k. Not to mention installing all the sensors (washer level for instance) and pulling the wiring.
