Where is the stock amp? Searched and can't find a thing. First audi so I am not sure if its the same across platforms (be kind). I'd rather not just remove the radio and tap in back there (but I will if its easier)

Following up to my own thread: http://forums.audiworld.com/a4b7/msgs/28054.phtml

At this point I think the only two 'real' solutions are:

1) LLC into the rear before the amp and run the RCA from the stock amp location to my new amp

2) Get an electronic crossover. Get the same speaker input I'd use for the LLC and use that for the input on the x-over then run RCA to the new amp. Problem is I will still need a LLC for the RCA input of the x-over but I will have the extra control.

Just what I needed :) What is the wire coloring going into the amp?

I very much want to tap in using factory pre-outs from the head unit as well as the factory remote turn on. Supposedly there's a plug from (midwestelectronics.com) that will fit in the back of our head unit that has RCAs. I sent them an email requesting a specific part No. I also asked if they had the wiring colors/functions at the factory amp as I'd prefer to NOT have to take out the head unit. I'm guessing we're thinking the same thing - upgrade the amp/components and keep the factory head unit? Keep me posted! Do you have AIM?

Basically the same thing - I am just doing the sub/amp though so I am going to tap into the rears for the signal.

I know the exact piece you are looking for. Saw it in a search the other day when I was looking for the amp info. I either searched for amp in this forum, or amp in the audio forum (there we like 20+ pages I actually went through there) I dont think it is anything other than a plug and play LLC though so if you get the wire coloring you can just rig up 2 LLCs in the rear ;)

If I find something I will let you know. AIM- gregab00 (at work now and won't be around later)
