i have an 05.5 with no nav and no bose... the six-cd changer seems to scratch up all my CDs and consistently gives me errors. Anyone else experience the same thing??

TIA

None of those problems, but it is not too good!

for factory... it's actually relatively clear. No CD scratches or anything like that, though the whole load and eject sequence is obnoxious.

My main complaint is that the eq/volume control isn't linear. ie the bass at 12 will be much more present than bass at say 18 and from 18 to 30 it doesn't increase at all and the vocals, mids and highs will only increase slightly after 15-18.

But again, it's an above average factory head unit... and the bose unit really isn't much better- especially for the added cost. Best option is to go aftermarket, though it will cost considerably more.

I have two JL Audio 12 w3's in the JL enclosure with a 500 watt monoblock JL amp, but with all that damn steel between the back seat and trunk, which is great for decreased road noise (work on the damn A-pillars though Audi), however horrible for getting any sound into the cabin. That is without ripping up the rear deck to remove the inaccurate factory 8" piece of crap that always bottoms out.

I'm actually toying with the idea of putting a nice sealed or ported 8" in the floor behind the driver's seat (though not higher than the top of the seat cushion of the backseat)firing forward in order to get more spl in the cabin and also not muddy up the accuracy through steel and leather... Though yes, the small backseat will specifically be a one-seater at that point. anyone have thoughts on this????

OR, TWO 8" free airs firing through the already mesh rear deck? I'm stil trying to figure out what my resolution to our similar problem will be :)

Free Air 8"s are kinda a joke... they are horribly inaccurate. two 8's is an option, but that will involve cutting; the deck is hardly mesh. Regardless you'll need to remove the 8" factory sub if you want any sound to pass through (unless you pull the ultra-ghetto move of putting a back seat down). Plus, assuming as with the B6, any decent setup in the trunk will cause the factory 8 to actually move from the spl and bottom-out with a noticible "thwack". So it'll need to be removed if I opt for anything in the trunk, which means more install costs (don't have the tools here in the DC apt) and additional uninstall pains when replacing the vehicle back to stock.

I'm really leaning towards behind my seat in a custom box (I'll likely design) in order to get the sound IN the cabin (as in skipping the whole removing factory 8 and also gaining accuracy if tuned correctly). I'm thinking an 8w3 will do with that size space. Most of the time I have a briefcase behind my seat anyways so it's not like I'll miss the space. And who wants to haul around 3 extra passengers??? (slows her down!)

I don't know... I'm also still considering the 12w3's either one or two in the trunk. 2 may be too much bass and 1 may not be enough... anyone with these setups care to contribute??
