Just wondering what the consensus is for suspension choices.

Are aftermarket setups (Bilstein PSS9, Stasis Street Sport, Stasis Track Sport) really better than the Audi sport suspension that is only a $250 upgrade?

If so, where are the best places online to order these parts?

Thanks for your advice...

my stock sport suspension other than with respect to overall ride quality. they are considerably more firm

coilovers will allow you much greater adjustability in ride quality. you can adjust the height, and in many of the kits, rebound and compression.

sports suspension is basically springs and shocks. it is not ride height adjustable and you cannot change the characterstics of the shock/spring at all.

i didn't notice a huge difference between stock and sport suspension on my 2.7T A6. it did handle better, but the change was not night and day. going from stock to KW3 coilovers on my A4 was a night and day difference and totally transformed the car in a way the sports suspension on my A6 didnt. at the same time, the KWs were much more expensive than the sports suspension.

Better? No! Different - yes.

OEM is OEM, it has been tested and designed to work. For many though the car is too soft or too high. In that case, coilovers are your best and safest bet. I am partial to Vogtlands after testing them on our cars. (Not B7, not yet!)

Vogs.

I did not have a chance to drive a B7 with sport before I ordered my car. But, looking at photos of B7 sport and non-sport, I liked the stance of the sport and it's only $250, so I ordered it.

I was concerned that the ride would be too stiff, but it's perfect IMO. The car is not so low that I have to worry about speed bumps, not too high and none of that 'boat ride' wallowing like my old B5 non-sport.

The OEM sport suits me perfectly.

The difference is night and day. The car is soo much tighter around the turns and even when switching lanes on the highway you can feel that there isn't much body roll left.

My friend has a B7 S4 on stock suspension and I still feel that my car seems to hold the road a lot better when hitting the turns at higher speeds. and as for the ride quality, I can honestly tell you that even with my car slammed there is not much of a difference when it comes to the feel, when hitting bumps and uneven pavment. Only porblem is i have to be a little more careful not to bottom out on speed bumps or driveways.

The only reason I would have went with the sports suspension is really only to get the dual-spoke 17"s.

7 years later it still feels like the right balance of performance and comfort to me.

My baby...
