I am set on chipping my 2.0TQ 6MT this december. I have searched the forums and done some research on the APR vs. Neuspeed chips but i wanted to get some more opinions on both. Especially of those who have them. Also what about installation of these? How hard is it to find a tech and what is the average cost? Thanks for your help, all comments would be appreciated.

I have the APR chip and I love it! The switch program made it easy to choose APR over the others, plus the APR certified dealer was a few miles form my house.
Check APR and the other chip makers websites for locations and pricing.

I got my APR chip done last week and I love it. You can find where the techs are if you go here:

I took an hour drive to Rapid Autowerks in Monsey, NY and they took care of me. Took about a half hour or so. What I had done and the costs are as follows:
93 octane program....$599
2nd Stock program....$149
Security program(prevents from dealer flash)...$59
Labor...$50
total=$857 + tax
May seem like a lot for a chip, but it was a great choice when you consider what this does and the hp/$.

I have a tech right in the city, labor is like a half hour or so....
I love mine...totally awesome especially with the cool weather now...not a single error, code or issue...had the flash for 6K miles and 5 months or so. GO APR!

...which gives me les oomph but does allow for more options on fuel (recently 93 octane was in short supply).
Anyhow I'm good with the APR reflash and am glad I went for it. BTW, it took about 40 minutes to reflash my ECU.

I got the software installed during their October sale and got the Stock/91/93/100 programs installed with security lockout and fault code erase. I went with APR because I really wanted the ability to switch programs whenever I wanted to. I also wanted the valet program which they plan on releasing in the future. They said they would program it for free when it is available, I will have to give up one of my programs, most likely the 93 or 100 oct. 92 oct is all that is available at the pump here in Washington so I usually run the 91 program, and man... you can really tell the difference the first time you drive the car. All that added torque and HP in the low end really gets the car going. You really can feel it pulling between the 3K and 5K rpms.
After driving it on the 91 program for a while, I began to get used to the feeling of the added power and it kind of lost it's "new toy" feeling. So I switched back to the stock program and drove it around for half a tank. I also took note of the MPG I was getting on the stock progam. After that half tank I went back to the 91 program and I was pleasantly reminded how much of a difference it made. I also realized I was getting almost 2 more MPG's on the 91 program. I think the car runs just as smooth if not better than the stock program
I thought about going with Neuspeed but decided against it for a few reasons. They did not have the switching technology, which I wanted for if/when the car goes back to the dealer for service. I also looked closely at the dyno's which have been posted on this forum and it seems that the APR software delivers the Torque and peak HP at lower RPM's as compared to the Neuspeed. To me this makes more sense if you do a lot more city/highway driving (which I do) than track driving. I personaly would rather have the power sooner rather than waiting for the RPM's to get up there. I'm sure the Neuspeed is a great product and I am not knocking it in any way, I just don't think its for me. APR offers a 30 day money back gaurantee, so I figured if I didn't like it I could just get my money back.
I plan on trying the toluene mixture to increase the oct to 93 while I have the program, just to see what it is like.
The price for all the programs $748.00
The price for install (about 30-45mins) $75.00

I will be taking delivery the first week of December. I plan on getting my ECU scanned to ensure compatibility mere days later. If Revo or GIAC don't get their product out in a hurry, I'll be using APR for sure.
