Thought I'd pass on some info to other people who are waiting for their 1.8t's.
As of Friday, my 1.8tqms + all weather is still status F acording to the VoA order status report from my dealer. (It has been status F since at least 11/2 which is the first time I asked for that report) He had recieved a memo from AoA stating that all A4s w/Quattro, and/or all-weather package were affected by this hold. I have not seen the memo, so have no additional info about it's contents, sorry.
He was not aware of any "brake", or "hose" issues.
And worst of all, the memo allegedly had no estimate as to how long the hold would take.
Anybody been able to pry additional info from their dealer, or AoA?
If it helps to know where your car is relative to mine, according to the VoA "Order Production Status Report" my car was part of Production Week 40, which if my counting is correct was the week of October 5th.
My car must have just missed a boat/truck because another identically optioned, only black instead of silver built the same week arrived in the US on 10/20 and was delivered to my dealer early this month.
A 1.8tms wo/ all weather built week 41, is also already here, which appears to back up the quattro and/or all weather issue!
I'm not sure now If I'll have the car for my vacation the last 2 weeks in December...
Hope your not as deperssed as I am.
On a positive, but equally depressing note, I bought a set of take off '99 Passat steel wheels with the stock highly rated(CR) Michelin MXV4 Energy, M&S rated all season tires for $250 + Shipping and they should be here next week.
-Dean

My A4 2.8Qtip with All Weather was production week 40,production release: 9.03.98, production complete: 10.01.98. It arrived at the dealer in So. Cali on the 28th of October, and was shipped to Bellevue, WA (Seattle) the 29th, sat there for about a week getting StonGArd, etc... and then picked up by me on Saturday the 14th of November.
Maybe you have been misinformed. Or maybe there is a little game going on. I would doubt the game if the dealer is giving you the production reports, though.
BTW, all of this info is from MY production reports which my dealer supplied me with regularly.
Kirk
99 A4 2.8Qtip avec 900+ miles

Are two cars could have been kissing cousins
Here are my cars specs:
A4 2.8 Quattro Tiptronic
Leather
Sport Pkg
Sport Seats
BOSE
Sunroof
Trip
All Weather Pkg
Remote Locking (included standard with mine)
It is Aluminum Silver Exterior with Opal Gray Interior
At times in the past, some cars have been held up with Leather problems, but this was only if they hadn't been produced yet (held in B Status) Obviously, if your car has been produced, then every part was available to put on the car and then be driven to port.
It would be interesting to compare options, including colour choices to see how close yours is to mine since they were only produced 58 cars apart (same colour? same option pkgs?) I know that yours is a 1.8T so that kind of blows away speculation that Audi only produces cars in strict runs of like product. i.e.--only Silver 2.8 Quattros during one production cycle, etc... UNLESS the production cycle ends just after mine was made and just before yours was. It appears that Audi can make a 1.8T and a 2.8T right next to each other on the production line. Interesting.
If you have your dealer number, should be on the "Individual VIN Inquiry" right next to "BILL-TO-DEALER" on left side above YR MODEL. Or on the "Order Production Status Report" you need to combine the "REGION" number and "DEALER" number to get the actual dealer number for entry on the link below.
Now, this is assuming it is coming through the Houston Port. But you might give it a try anyway even if you are on the East Coast as the VW/Audi Database may be interconnected.
IF you ever do find out what the HOLD problem is, please post it so we can all check our cars, especially since mine was produced practically right next to yours.
Good Luck,
Kirk

Houston Port

So mine is over 2000 away from yours, the black one that isn't mine was here early this month.( I wonder if they are sequential? 2000+ in 1 week?
Both the Black 22634, and my silver, 25073 are identical except color.
8D25I4 A4 1.8t
PAS Auidi/Bose w/ 6-Disc
PAW All Weather Pkg
PCC Moon Roof
PI2 Trip Computer
PSQ Sport Package
QTR Quattro
0LM CA emissions
I also would like to know what the issue is/was. (Over according to post above, but they still ahve to get it on a boat!)

Audi does have the ability to produce "unlike" cars right next to each other, even engines. Very interesting. Shows that their plant production management may be a little more sophisticated than I previously thought.
Too bad about your car. Jim H. above alluded to the details of the hold and that dealers are not always informed. It appears that the hold may be over though! Did you try to check your dealer through that link I provided?
Kirk

I ordered my A4 October 15th and as of yet, "its still at the east coast port".
Frustration and anxiety is settling in, I have a buyer for my present car and the buyer has an impatient buyer for her car. Not a good scene.
Who cares? And what's up with this?

My 1.8T qMS has been sitting in port now for three weeks. Its getting depressing but there's not much I can do about it. My dealer has no info on the reason for the delay. They are very casual..."Don't worry, it will get here.." they say. I am not concerned, its just been a long wait!
My lease was up on my Explorer yesterday so I asked if my Audi dealer could provide me with a car until my A4 arrives. They gave me a 97 Jetta GT.
Its no A4 but I have been pleasantly surprised with it. Similar to people's comments on the 1.8T engine, it likes to rev high...:)
TGB 1999 1.8T qMS
