What's the performance difference between my 01 2.8q and the B7 2.0?

Torque curve on the 2.0T looks to be a monster; Audi claims the full amount of torque is available at 1800 RPMs, almost eliminating turbo lag all together.

.... Think about it: a smaller and lighter engine (4 cylinders instead of 6), but more power and a better torque curve.

Also, the 2.0T not only has FSI, but a counter-balancing mechanism that dramatically reduces 4-banger vibration. It also gets fantastic gas mileage.

This engine looks to be a major hit.

So yeah, it's more powerful than the old 2.8 V6. But is also superior in many other ways.

Back in 2001 the 1.8T increased to 170hp from 150hp, and the difference in power between the 2.8 and the 1.8T was small.
