I have an 08 S4 Cab (basically the same car as my 05) that is having rough idle in the morning. By rough idle I mean that it will sway a couple hundred RPM up/down until I blip the throttle a couple of times.
My 05 never had this issue and when I took it into the shop they said that, "it is normal for the S4" which seems to be a very strange answer.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with their car.
Garaged, in San Francisco, no adverse weather.

After 1-2 minutes at most, it idles smoothly.

just took it to the dealer to find out what's up. They ran tests through the computer, and nothing came up as a fault. They said if it occurs, to bring the car in and keep it there for a day to see the phenomenon itself. I have yet to do that.
The bobbing RPMs stop after about 20-30 seconds. I usually don't hit the throttle until it finishes. However, one day it lasted about 1 minute. That's when I took it in to the dealer.

"Come on let's get going". It is a relatively "stressed" motor, LOL.
My 07 does not do this.

I have an 07. Mine did this exact thing. How many miles on your car. I'm at about 4600 and it does not do it anymore. I was thinking it maybe a breaking in issue. I definetly thought it was weird.

but only on startup... weird.
my car has 8600 miles on it so I don't think it's part of the break in!

mine does exactly the same thing, but a friend told me it was some automatic warm-up device. this makes sense because it only happens when below around 35 degrees. if anyone knows whether or not that's true, please let me know
