I'm thinking of swapping my 2006 A6 4.2 for a 25th anniversary 2006 S4. Dealer is offering to give me 35K for the A6 (ouch...) but is asking 43K for the s4 plus 1800 for CPO warranty.

He was originally asking 46K with CPO warranty.

My A6 appraises at 36-38 depending on where you look but i have yet to see a dealer give what kbb or edmunds appraise at.

The A6 is great but too big for just me... no kids.. fiance has her own car... i'm upset over the huge loss on depreciation but that's an audi for you... i miss the manual transmission and sportiness of the car... the 2000 4.2 (even though it wasn't auto) looked much more sportier and had a aggressive stance... just like the S4/RS4

please comment on what you think. All the 2006 S4's I've seen (25th anniversary or not) have run between 42k-52k depending on miles and how greedy the dealer is.

on both would help to give you advice on how good the deal is/isn't.

Your car looks great btw, what have you done to it?

While the anniversary S4 usually commands more money than a regular one almost $45k seems on the higher end unless the car has extremely low mileage. I'm selling my 07 for $44.9k and it just turned 8k miles yesterday.

you could probably do a little better on your trade value but it's impossible to know exactly what the dealer is giving you for your car. They can give you $38k for it but then they're not discounting their car at all or they can give you $33k and sell you their S4 for $40k. Forget the numbers they're giving you, it comes down to how much cash do you want to throw in w/ your car to get an S4?

both are 06 models.

my options:
technology, cold weather, manual side/power rear shades, nav (mmi), 6-disk, black interior, heated front/rear seats, moonroof, power everything, auto-dimming mirrors, rear parking sensors, triptonic, multifunction steering wheel, bluetooth

s4:
cold weather, nav (mmi), 6-disk, carbon interior, moonroof, dtm wheels/lip/spoiler, manual transmission :)

the manual transmission and navi are deal makers/breakers... without them it's a no go. not sure what else is on the s4 but it's the 25th anniversary option, so essentially fully loaded.

i cringe about the depreciation but i am willing to live with it. The only items i have on my car that are non stock is the front lip and rear diffuser both purchased from audis website. 19in wheels are probably going to stay with me, i like them enough :)
