I dared myself earlier this week to see if I could get 300+ miles out of a single tank in my S4 Avant. Good lord was it hard, but I did it. I got about 315 miles on the tank.

I commute about 55-60 miles round trip everyday. Mostly freeway. I set the cruise at 69, Never pulled hard and went from 1st to 3rd to 6th in a very calm manner. I also started in second from most stop lights.

In the end, it took some major discipline to drive this mellow. Towards the end I was so done with the test, but wanted to see that magic "300". Now its done and I think I am much happier with 250+ and some more fun behind the wheel....

Looks like the Tiptronic is definitely easier on gas compared to the 6MT. But I have another manual transmission car, so I'm not missing the MT too bad.

Took a friend to the Atlanta airport today. It was 140 miles each way on I-85. Ran between 70 and 85, occasional bursts of 90+ to get away from SUV headlight glare. This is what I saw when I got home (and notice how much gas is left):

And the trip computer came up with this fuel economy number

So between this ibis:

I know which one I prefer.

Have a great Thanksgiving, everyone!
