B7 S4 on the way which has standard TPMS. When buying new wheels for the winter, is it really necessary to buy a set of sensors for the wheels - adds around $300 to the bill - or can you use the sensors in the stock wheels? Or is this another instance of "just buy the damn things - not worth switching them out between wheels every 6 months?" I understand you can mount winter wheels without sensors, but the warning light stays on continuously. What are folks with TPMS doing about this - thanks!!

It is one less thing to deal with. You will just have to pay someone else to switch the sensors twice a year, possibly damaging the sensors and/or the rim. You will also eat up the $300 in mounting and balancing fees in a hurry. I bucked up and spent the extra money and there is nothing like switching wheels/tires in 30 minutes yourself and driving off. Money well spent.

just buying a set of good all season tires, having the dealer switch them when the car comes in, selling the summer tires privately, and not worrying about it anymore. Good all seasons will do well for me outside Philly, where the winters are typically pretty mild, since I don't track the car, and will be using it fairly gently. I have limited storage space, and it's not worth it to me to be switching wheels and tires every 6 months.

I switched the summer tires for Goodyear F1 Eagle all season tires. They are rated very high and are available in 235/40 ZR 18 (XL)size. You will not be let down.

Maybe I'll see you on the road when you finally get your car :)
Good thing you're not going with Sprint Blue. There can only be so many of us, lol.

Seems like you are trying to talk yourself out of a set of winter wheels.
If changing wheels isn't your thing and you don't have the storage space, or know someone who does, a good set of all season tires is probably your best option. Sounds like you will be happier.

I've been having it serviced at Don Rosen, though.
Did you order yours from Don Rosen? I hear good things about them (sales AND service-wise).

but I've bought and serviced a number of cars at DR Imports and have had pretty good luck there. Audi WG is just 5 mins from my house so it's just more convenient for me to service there.

Which are the best all season tires should I look at that will fit my stock B7 wheels? I think this is the route I'm going to go. I will plan on leaving them on year round - so best combination of dry/wet/snow would be ideal. Give me some ideas of 3 or 4 tire brands and types I should look at seriously. Thanks.
