I'm not sure yet whether this is going to happen but I'm mulling it over and need some other points of view.

I'm on a 6 month sabbatical and thinking about changing cars. Currently we have 3: a 997S Cab, an allroad, and a Mazda 3. The idea is to come down from 3 to 2 vehicles and take some cost out.

One thought was to get rid of all 3 cars and replace with a couple of used S4's - an Avant, and a Cab. I like owning a cab even in Chicago winters: they're great to drive with the top down and the butt warmers on. I also think wagons are not only practical but cool, especially if you "stealth" something quick like an S4 Avant by debadging it.

I know this is very broad, but does anyone have any other suggestions as to what would make a good 2 car "fleet"?

I would opt for two cars with different driving characteristics....like an S4 avant and a 3.2DSG TT Roadster (if you were inclined to stay all Audi).

I agree about the Cabrio. Perfect car for those winters too.

probably wouldn't take much (if any) of the cost out, but...

I think if you get rid of the allroad and substitute a S4 avant, you might miss some of the practicality....having a big clunky vehicle comes in handy sometimes. not that the Q7 is especially clunky or anything.

The S4 cab is a fcuking great car...I'd add one to the stable, if I had a place to put it.
