Anyone getting more than 1k off. Deciding between new 06 25th and 07 which will proably cost about the same, which I guess means the 07 makes more sense...

Otherwise go for the 07. Just remeber that there were only 250 25th ed made. To me it would come down to color selection.

Actually the 07 on the lot is my favorite color combo, deep blue over silver, and I figure the car will be worth more than the 25th 06. Different dealer, so we'll see who gets my $.

i'm in the san francisco bay area (large selection of dealers) and emailed three of them to find the best price. they came back with MSRP, $2000 over invoice and $1000 over invoice. i pitted the lowest 2 against each other and asked the $2k if they would beat the $1k, which he did. with their dumb "advertising" and "doc" fees it ended up being $750 above listed invoice which is about $3500 below MSRP. i didn't argue the extra dealer fees because i was still getting a great deal and it beat the second-best offer.

i've put down the $500 deposit but haven't signed any legally-binding, sales forms yet. the car has been allocated but not yet built, ETA is 12/2006. when i'm actually driving the car then i'll be happy. :T

what i'm trying to say is you can easily negotiate price if 1) you really believe EVERYTHING is negotiable, don't fall for "well, it's 25th edition" or "it's 07 and we can sell it at msrp...", 2) you have leverage (other dealers close by, brokers services, other models [bmw 335??], etc.) and are NOT AFRAID to use it by walking away.

also, don't negotiate top-down on cars (i.e, discount off MSRP), always take the invoice price, add a reasonable markup so that the dealer/salesperson can make a living, and use that as your firm, target number. as a rule of thumb, 500-1500 is usually more than fair. take into account any manufacturer specials.

if you're drooling all over the dash of the new 07 s4 on the lot then you've just lost a lot of your bargaining power and the salesperson knows it; you're on "the ether" by that time! i've found it's better to try to hide the drool under the car mats. :)

p.s. i ordered my 07 with the DTM bodykit but that's not available in the deep blue color you want.
