I have the new Motorola Q, which hasn't been great but its done it's job. The majority of the problems I've had with the phone is when it's in the car and bluetooth enabled.

So my question to you is does Audi Bluetooth suck or is it my gimickie Motorola Q?

...and my wife's RAZR. We swap cars every week and both phones pair up w/o any issues.

The smartphones remind me of early versions of Windows. I've had one of the first Treo 650s and it reset itself at least once a day. Paired with the Audi Bluetooth it went crazy at times. One day it kept resetting itself every 2 minutes or so while connected to the car. I discovered that I didn't have the latest firmware, but before I could update it I lost the phone. I've had a brand new one for a week now, it's got the latest firmware, hardware and a new SIM card. So far things are looking very good. The Treos were known to have a crappy Bluetooth implementation and I wouldn't be surprised if Motorola has to work out many kinks before the Q is stable.

Over the last year I've had the following work fine in the car:

Treo650 (GSM) PALM
T-Mobile SDA (GSM) Windows
T-Mobile MDA (GSM) Windows
Motorola RAZR (GSM)
Motorola v557 (GSM)

I've heard bad things about Verizon & bluetooth. Not sure if that is who you have.

I had an "<a href="http://forums.audiworld.com/telematics/msgs/125.phtml">extra digit</a>" issue with the Treo650 that caused constant reboots of the phone at one point, but after I fixed it, it worked fine. Otherwise, all is well.

Good luck. Give the <a href="http://forums.audiworld.com/telematics/">Telematics</a> forum a shot and see if anyone there has had better luck.

Eric.

BTW; How did you sync up your addy book?

And just FYI for the folks here &gt;&gt;&gt; <a href="http://storage.audiusa.com/bluetooth.pdf#search=%22Blackberry%20audi%20blueto oth%22">Audi BT Phone Compatibility List</a>

I use it mostly with my cingular blackberry, and it only transfers over the phone book (not the lists for recent calls, missed calls, etc). With my verizon Q, it transfers over all the lists as well as the phone book. Voice quality is great for both phones.

The key is to leave the bluetooth in the 'on' position on the Q all the time. As you've probably found out, the interface on the Q is fairly slow and clunky, so it's best to get your settings exactly where you want them, and then leave it.

Confusion ensues when both phones are in the car and both have bluetooth on, but that's to be expected.

Eric - did the entire phone book sync with all the phones you listed ?
(e.g. Audi Compatible List says "Favorites Only", so is that true or obsolete list?

(My Sprint PPC 6700 connects to Audi Bluetooth and functions handsfree, but it does not sync phone book at all).

Thanks
