View Full Version : I'll finally be getting the 5k mile service done next week. Anything I should know? Timmay 07-28-2006, 10:15 AM RXBG 07-28-2006, 11:05 AM -don't let them wash it. -check air pressure b4 u leave -check oil level b4 u leave Mike B 07-28-2006, 12:02 PM Timmay 07-28-2006, 12:07 PM steveAZ 07-28-2006, 12:21 PM Timmay 07-28-2006, 12:39 PM steveAZ 07-28-2006, 01:01 PM These dipsticks are crazy! Timmay 07-28-2006, 02:49 PM daveak05 07-28-2006, 03:46 PM traded for mine at 6k...no dealer for me, I will do the maint...up to the fairly significant 45k service. Dealer and flunkies roaming the lots don't touch my car unless absolutely necessary due to a warranty repair...which hasn't happened yet, knock on wood. Anyway, this is probably a no-brainer, but don't let them wash it. daveak05 07-28-2006, 03:47 PM daveak05 07-28-2006, 03:49 PM tires are one thing, but oil level...I would hope that they wouldn't leave that underfilled. daveak05 07-28-2006, 03:51 PM aboev that...which I ALWAYS start off at after an oil change. It's easier to see if any is being used by starting max full. gtikid98 07-28-2006, 04:45 PM DrGP 07-28-2006, 08:58 PM A free alignment is also available if there are any uneven tire wear issues . I really doubt some guy spends the amount of time they actually charge to do all the bullsh1t listed in the manual. They probably just change the oil and filter, VAG it, rotate tires, test drive, done. Make sure they don't overfill your oil...they do that a LOT. bpp 07-29-2006, 04:26 AM Timmay 07-29-2006, 11:27 AM daveak05 07-29-2006, 11:59 AM if anything the dealer may leave at low end of range, saving a few bucks, let the owner top off to max full if they want. Doing my own, I don't suffer from this problem. Bob W. 07-29-2006, 08:01 PM but that's just my personal observation in 4 different Audis over 6 years. check the oil when you pick the car up, that's all I'm suggesting. Timmay 07-29-2006, 08:53 PM |
