I find it very hard to see the actual oil level compared to others.

in the s4/RS4, I think the trick is to take a good look at the dipstick after you wipe it off (before reinserting). once you get used to knowing how it looks dry, it's easier to see where the 'wet' area begins....if that makes sense.

Oh, the OIL dipsticks...

*shrugs* I've had worse, my old B6 1.8T wasn't much better, and my old Maxima...*shudder*

Huh, the 2.7T dipstick was a nightmare. I actually asked a service guy to show me how to read the bloody thing. I was sure my new 2.7T engine didn't have a drop of oil in it :)

Are you sure you are speaking of a dip stick receptacle? re: What is looks like dry then wet, reinserting, ! lol.... FYI, the A8-D3's aren't any better.
