are you writing off that lease payment?
If not, you should have purchased the car.
That lease payment is insane.

then you should finance the car? Is that what you are truly saying? A car is not an investment. If you can get a good lease rate and you do not put a ton of miles on a car then leasing can be BETTER than financing a car. To each his own, but I would rather invest my money elsewhere than put down several thousand dollars and finance a depreciating "asset".
Of course the calculations will be different for everyone depending on his own situation, but if you say not to lease simply because you cannot write off the payment .... well then you are a fool and need to do more homework.
FYI.... I can write off a portion of my lease.
