Two longitudinal DSG transmission will become available mid or late decade. They will replace the longitudinal ZF six speed tiptronic manumatic transmission throughout the lineup. One longitudinal DSG will be a ZF six speed unit with a maximum capacity of 369 lbs/ft of torque. The other longitudinal DSG will be a ZF or Getrag six speed unit with a maximum capacity of 516 lbs/ft of torque.

Like the DQ250 (250 Q stands for transverse, the number denotes the torque limit in Nm), DL500 (L indicates longitudinal) and DL700, the latter two sporting seven instead of six ratios. These are new DSGs in addition to the current 6-speed gearbox available in the A3, TT and Golf and the Riccardo-built 7-speed for the Bugatti Veyron.

what other Audi models with which engines will get the DL500 and DL700 seven speed DSG transmissions? Also, the six speed DSG transmission in the TT 3.2, A3, S3, R32 and GTI is DQ450, right?

... You're right the current DSD for the A4/A5 (PQ35) platform vehicles is a DQ450, although it wasn't developed with that name. But that's another story.

As for applications for the longitudinal DSG transmissions, I'm gonna have to defer an answer for that for a later date. In other words, it's it's inappropriate for me to comment right now. Especially in an S4 forum.

The next TT is still going to utilize an ASF, right?

Regardless of how incredibly stupid he may be.

And yes, the next gen TT is gonna use aluminum as it primary structural material. Final assembly will move from Hungary to Germany in the process.

Dear ?,

I'm intrigued by your comment about the DQ450. I thought the current DSG in VW/Audi applications was the DQ250 (350N.m), produced at the Kassel plant in Germany.

I have also seen posts on here which suggest that the DQ450 is a ZF unit.

Any clarification you can give would be appreciated.
