IMHO, it'll never happen.

in an S car. No one really seems to know one way or another, but maybe they'll actually do it for the D3 S8? Or maybe at least have some Lambo-tuned motors or something. Either way, I hope it IS coming, because the D3 S8 is WAY overdue!

I believe a normally aspirated 5.5L FSI V10 producing 100 hp per liter (550 hp overall). With FSI, the normally aspirated 5.5L V10 should easily be able to produce 450 lbs/ft of torque (81.8 lbs/ft of torque per liter), which will be needed for a car as heavy as the new S8 will most likely be (4,300-4,500 pounds). If a normally aspirated 3.2L I6 with a conventional fuel injection system (which is in the E46 M3) can produce 269 lbs/ft of torque (84.1 lbs/ft per liter), then a normally aspirated 5.5L FSI V10 can easily produce 450 lbs/ft of torque (again, 81.8 lbs/ft per liter).
