It says the unit is 23 x 23 x 16.7 which in other words means the thing is a beast of a unit. I just measured my entertainment cabinet and it is only 20. I guess the backing will have to be modified to make room for the cords.....damn it I just put together the entertainment unit and I am already going to be cutting it up!

just be sure if it's new or refurbished that it comes from an authorized reseller because Denon is very particular about that in terms of warranty.

But correct specs are 17-1/8"W x 6-3/4"H x 16-15/16"D

Those specs you mention sound like the dimensions of the packaging.

and was thinking to myself...."How badly do I want DTS & lossless audio?"

I then was thinking about my jigsaw in the garage....I was not looking forward to cutting it up but that happens in the course of chasing audio bliss

that it is for the package itself not the unit.

I was thinking to myself damn this thing is hewj!

I currently have a 3805 but I want the HDMI switching plus the ability to hear everything possible.

personal preference and of course what speakers you have is a factor.... but generally, I found the new xx08 Denons to be a bit bright sounding and not as nice with the music I listen to as the Onkyo 875/905. I guess with home theater, it doesn't matter. I had my heart set on the Denon 4308 after comparing how much cooler the OSD is than the ghetto-looking Onkyo 905's OSD. I listened to both at the store at length. But in the end, I went for the Onkyo's sound. And despite the early teething problems my 905 has had prior to the firmware and DSP updates, I still think I made the right choice.

If I were you, I'd also take a look at a Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH. It's probably the only receiver in the price range I'd trade my 905 for at the moment. Good deals on them around. And before people here start emailing me for info, I will post here now. A friend bought one for just under $1100 shipped from a place called hifi heaven in wisconsin (no affiliation). If you phone order it, the 2-year Pioneer Elite warranty stands because they are an authorized retailer (but not internet).
