In my living room there is a window directly behind the sitting area (blinds help, but not 100%) - so there are still pretty bad reflections during some parts of the day - but my only reference is a direct view 32" set -

Plasmas are brighter than old crt sets correct so wouldn't that help?

How do reflections on a plasma compare to a crt set anyway?

with varying degrees of success.

My Kuro has such a coating but in the morning when the sun is right at my windows and the room is brightest, glare is still an issue, but it's a good thing the display's brightness and contrast makes viewing still tolerable.

You can mount them on a tilt or even swing-out bracket which allows you to reduce or even remove the immediate glare issue by adjusting the angle of the plamsa with the mount.

But, the screen is typically a lot larger with the plasma, so you see that much more glare. I have a 50" pioneer on one wall, a couch on the opposite wall, and a set of 3 french doors right behind the couch leading out to the rear deck. The windows on those doors are covered with a tranlucent white fabric. The TV is mounted on a rotating stand which is maxed out at ~15 degrees off dead center. The best I'm able to accomplish is to reduce glare to one half of the screen.

My TV viewing is mainly evening or night time, so the glare doesn't come into play very often. If you want something better for daytime use, I would strongly consider something else (LCD) based on what you've articulated.
