View Full Version : IR eye location on front wall? pierreb 05-05-2008, 08:28 PM above TV, below TV, at top of wall near ceiling? trying to keep it out of the way of a future PJ screen solution too. suggestions, please. Rubberduckie 05-06-2008, 06:22 AM If it's a plasma you have there right now, your best bet is not to put it close to the set (unless it's specifically 'plasma friendly') as plasma TVs can 'suck up' IR signals. If it's okay with near plasma mounting the choice is whatever is most convenient for you. From here you just need to consider where your projector screen might finish up. Typically, they are mounted where the user most likes to point the remote. justincr250 05-06-2008, 08:51 AM I have a pioneer plasma and my eye is velcroed to the bottump corner of the tv. Works pretty good. pierreb 05-06-2008, 12:38 PM the wiring neatly as well. BeeRock::Riding Red 05-06-2008, 04:52 PM and cut one of the ir bugs supplied with the rf base station and splice it into a cat 5 wire you ran to the tv. attach it to the ir sensor on the tv. this way you never have to point the remote at the tv so there are NO macro issues when turning on or off the system, also, I should have mentioned this before. take advantage of the zone 2 and zone 3 from the 3808. run speaker wires to a vol ctrl area and into a room upstairs for a zone 2 and possible zone 3(outside). now why am I saying this? because when you switch tot he universal remote you can program 2 or 3 remotes. 1 for the HT room, one for the zone 2 and one for the zone3. with no ir needed and it will work up to 150-200ft away. pierreb 05-06-2008, 06:06 PM BeeRock::Riding Red 05-08-2008, 06:21 AM and a mrf 260 basse station, or if you have mroe then 4 components a mrf350 Rubberduckie 05-08-2008, 08:29 AM I'd take a Harmony One over an MX350. BeeRock::Riding Red 05-08-2008, 02:39 PM Rubberduckie 05-08-2008, 04:33 PM Once you play with an MX-810 the MX-350 seems like something from the 80's. BeeRock::Riding Red 05-08-2008, 06:05 PM does the same thing. yea it looks older i agree with that but the end product is the same for less. if someone wants to buck up thats fine and dandy. was just giving him a base rf setup to start with Rubberduckie 05-08-2008, 10:01 PM

On the left.
