So far I've put on the list:
Denon AVR-3808CI
Yamaha RX-V3800
Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH
Haven't come up with anything else that seems to compete in features/power/inputs at this price level.
Recommendations on a way to go?

Mostly movies, music or bit of both?
Who will be using the receiver other than you?

They are within price range and offer competing specs. The one you linked has only 2 HDMI in, not enough to make my list.

The sub is a 10" Infinity, 150w, something I got 10 years ago as well, but I think it's more then adequate right now.
At a minimum, the main fronts and center must be replaced. And at that point, I figure I will replace the rear surrounds, and maybe hold over 2 SuperOne's for the extra 2 channels in the center rear.
You're probably going to ask me, "replaced with what?". I don't know that answer right now. Price will help dictate that. I'd like to spend a maximum of $3000-4000 on a 5 speaker setup. Preferrably more closer to $3000. I want a set of floor standing mains.
99% of viewing is TV and Movies. We hardly ever listen to Radio or CDs/MP3s. That's the extra 1% comes in. Oh yea, you can throw on Wii use I suppose.
The reciever is in the family room and gets used a 4-6 hours per day while the TV is on. I'm the only one who would "use" the receiver if by "use", you mean tweak it/mess with settings. Right now I rarely even do that. Turn it on and use digital audio modes off TV/DVD or Dolby Pro Logic mode otherwise. I use 5CH Stereo for CD/MP3/iPod use.

tweaks, and they just pick the buttons. the avr will handle everything from switching to the right sources, to turning scaling on/off, to turning audyssey on/off etc.
solid piece so far, with well over 5-6 hrs use daily for xbox, tv, bd, hd-dvd, mp3 streaming and internet radio streaming.

I'm not a big Yamaha fan, so given that list I'd probably concentrate on the Denon [which I like very much] and the Pioneer [which I know little about but feel is likely quite nice].
Another poster recommended Marantz, which should probably be on your list. Over the years its been my opinion that Marantz's flagship models are [from an audio performance standpoint] typically as good as you'll find...often audibly outperforming even Denon's similarly priced/placed offerings. This typically applies only to Marantz's top one or two receivers though. I'll footnote this by adding that I have no first hand experience with anything currently in Marantz's catalogue.
I've always had a fondness for Arcam...might wanna have a look at their stuff too.

Arcam

Which means I gotta pay tax, which kinda sucks, but I might be able to go pickup direct. Back when I got cables from them, they had no place I could go pickup.
