View Full Version : A little update on my Pioneer Elite Pro 1140 plasma problem.

I've had my 1140 for less than 9 months. Back in November I had to have the video card replaced.

Over Christmas I found out that my front Input 4 composite video input did not work and was verified by a service technician recently.

While the service technician was here he found it hard to change the inputs which I assumed was being caused by my universal remote. He told me no there was definitely something wrong with some kind of receiver for the switching of inputs and it needed replaced.

I called Pioneer to ask for a "new" 1140 but they said in their warranty all they were required to do is service it and if it could not be fixed then it would then be replaced. This made me a little uneasy as I've only had this plasma for less than 9 months and there has been a total of 3 things go wrong with it. So I thought it would be an easy fight.

So once Pioneer said no I called the place where I bought it and explained the situation and to my sales guy which knew the circumstances. I told him to take his time and I wasn't going need this done overnight but I wanted Sound Advice to see about getting me a new 1140.

Well I spoke with Sound Advice today and they said there was nothing they could do or wanted to do. However I really feel like I have a "lemon" television even though as "I believe" in order for it to be a lemon I would consider 3 separate part replaced a lemon. Even though the sales guy told me a lemon would need to be the same part 3 times. I mean how many times will my plasma need to be taken apart to justify a lemon?

Sound Advice repair keeps calling to come and pick up the tv so they can repair it. I know I'm being logical when I'm sure they'll have my tv for around a month. If you take the time to diagnose, order parts {if Pioneer has them in stock or aren't back ordered], ship the parts, actual repair. Not to mention the possible damage to all of the transporting of the tv and the time without the plasma.

I'm very particular about certain things and I really feel I not being wrong for asking for a new plasma.

Is there anything you recommend I do? I don't want a FREE television or anything I just want what I paid for and it to be in good/great working order.

I also really like the Pioneer Elite brand and don't want another brand. I just feel like I've just gotten a bad apple out of the bunch.

and cc every address you can find for Pioneer corporate. If that doesn't work send it again and add consumer reports, all the leading web based A/V sites, magazines, etc etc etc to the cc list.
