Klipsch flush-mounts w/horn tweeters if you have a large room. Very efficient. truth 01-24-2008, 09:39 AM Rubberduckie 01-24-2008, 09:59 AM The only thing anyone really needs to know is how they sound compared with others. If you have a place narby that offers comparisons with other brands, see what you think. Otherwise it's settling. Settling isn't necessarily a bad thing, but if you can get better sound for your dollar, it's worth a comparison if you bother asking in the first place. I'm suggesting the Niles speakers because they offer the best sound for the buck out of the flush-mount speakers I've compared them with (Klipsch, B&W, Boston, Polk, Monitor Audio, PSB). With flush-mount speakers it's all a matter of finding a set that is the least offensive (given how much of a sonic compromise they are compared with bookshelves, monitors and floorstanders) for what you are prepared to spend. You can get some quite decent results, you just don't get much imaging, soundstaging or three-dimensionality from them. B&W speakers offer quite impressive performance in their tower and bookshelf lines, but the same drivers don't cut it so well without a wooden cabinet. Same with many other brands. truth 01-24-2008, 11:47 AM I wasn't asking for a recommendation, I was asking if anyone knew anything about a particular brand. Rubberduckie 01-24-2008, 12:56 PM with others in their class. These speakers are passive. What they sound like to you is all the information you need. It really is that simple. truth 01-24-2008, 02:10 PM |
