I posted below regarding having Paradigm Studio 100's as mains and possibly needing a new receiver. I can get this model for $700 which retails for around $1300. It has 1080p upscaling etc. Would this be a nice match with the Paradigms and a good step up from my Yamaha RXV-2500? My video currently consists of an Oppo 981 with an Optoma 739 projector.

Pioneer don't sell to people who advertise at that price. Unless they advertised at the full price and quaoted you a lower price on the side.
But I can't imagine why any authorised dealer would sell at about 4 cents above cost.
It will be a sonic improvement over the RXV2500. You'll love it. Extra features are a bonus.

I am not saying don't do it, just think about that you will probably not be able to get it fixed by Pioneer within/outside of the warranty. Granted, most receivers will last you a lifetime, but there is always a chance you'll get damaged goods.
BTW, this is not always the case. J&R sells RX-V1800 for $899, MSRP is $1299, most retailers sell them for $1199. They are an authorized Yamaha dealer.

to me at cost. It will still maintain a warranty. As employees they can buy at their cost.

I am running different speakers. So keep that in mind. With my Def Tech Mythos Three and Fours I really really like it. Have had NO handshake issues with my PS3 and D*HD box with BlueJeans HDMI running to Sony SXRD 60A3000.

turn on and turn off the 2nd zone being used, unless you go push a button on the receiver.
I have talked to the engineers about this and asked WHY, they just agreed it was stupid. so if your looking for full 2nd zone control the elite lacks what the yamaha already has.
I would also say, the rxv 2500 does sound fairly well if eq'd by a professional

have you seen the differences?
Extra 10 watts..
Ethernet port (can be useful for some).
A fourth HDMI input (maybe useful if you are really into gaming).
USB port for a flash drive..<ul><li><a href="http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/HomeEntertainment/AV-Receivers/EliteReceivers">One or two features, but no real performance gain from ten extra watts</a></li></ul>
