I've been holding my breath for those. It seems like one of the last innovations needed for LCDs to close the gap with plasmas, in terms of picture quality. Any comments from the cognoscenti?

Looks awesome but in IMO, the Sony XBR4/XBR5 line of LCDs look just as good despite not having LED technology. The off-axis viewing and video processing on the Sonys are better too especially when dealing with 24p source material using the motion smoothing effects.

I say screw LED backlighting... the next flat panel technology to look forward to is SED and Sony's OLED (organic LED).

The XBRs are the current fave, so maybe I should go get that TV i've been wanting (but not really needing).
