this was quite a project, having never done something like this before. Basically building a false wall from MDF, 500mm off the original wall. Very much a plan it as you build it job. The outcome was better than I expected, with good proportions balancing the plasma with the shelves and mock fire place. I live in Queensland Australia, so no need for heating, but liked the idea of a plasma over the fireplace look. Lights to the shelves are all flush mounted 12 volt on remote dimmer. What do you guys think?

Has to feel nerve racking to try something unique like that. And then it WORKS!!! Good job.
pics In the least you can follow up to your existing thread with more pics;)

There is about 500mm width, full height, so moving around behind the wall is easy for future additions to the setup. The only thing I would have done better is run cable conduit to more easily route the various cable from components to the panel etc. All shelves are hollow, so cabling is hidden. Soory again for poor focus on pic.

It is fixed in place by 4 bolts. So I guess it would be off in around 5 minutes. I hope the Pioneer guys can wait in the event the panel needs repairing. On the plus side, it would be difficult for theives to rip it off the wall, as they wouldn't know where to start. The access panel to behind is hidden behind the front speaker.
