The electronics budget is $7500-10,000.00

What movies do you typically watch? What music do you like?
How far are you sitting from the screen?

~2K on TV
~3-5K Speakers
~1-2K Processing/Amplification
~1K source unit
~1K wiring/misc

It's all subjective so just go out and try out stuff and see which products fit your needs most or where you want to focus more on. If you don't have time for all that and just want suggestions, your probably going to end up with someone else's idea of a great system that might not fit what you want. For example, I'm a video editor so if I was to have that budget for a system, most of it may be gone just from a monitor, depending on how I go with it.
But reasonably, I'd go with something like a 37" LCD screen w/ native resolution of 1080P which would be under 2K and probably closer to 1K. For speakers, I'd go with some matching active studio monitors all around (5 total) from Event, Dynaudio, Mackie or some other quality manufacturer which should cost 3-5K plus a sub for another 1K. No need for a seperate amp and processing/source comes from the computer so just get all the quality wiring to hook it up and spend the leftover on a projector or something.
In your case, I'll assume you may want to go with some consumer style speakers and a receiver. There should be a lot of matched sets out there that you can try but I like a lot of the JBL systems I've heard (just get the higher line and not the Best Buy package). Last I checked, I think you can get sets like that including the sub for under 5K. Get a nice receiver like the Onkyo mentioned in another post below and you should be good. As for HD content, make sure your player has 1080P outs and go with whatever format you want. Check local listing for broadcast HD channnels and get an appropriate antenna from a place like http://www.antennasdirect.com/
Then, hook it all up with quality cables and enjoy!
Anyway, give more specific requirements if you want something to match your needs better.

i promise the end result you will be pleased with. We can also discuss multiroom sound for say your kitchen deck etc...

Just got finished on a panny 58" artison masterpiece fronts artison rears and a kef 3500 sub sounds amazing. also did a 2nd and third zone for deck and kitchen, came to around 12k..... I used HD 5 speakers and a vol control for kitchen and niles os 7.5 outdoor speakers... they have lower models to make it fit into your budget. as well, the main room had a remote and so did the deck, kitchen zones...

I know this isnt in your budget just wanted to show ya a home theater, you want a media center.

$1,000-$1,500 for room treatment will make it sound much better than spending another $1,000 on "better" equiptment.

Maybe others can chime in or visit avsforums for way more info than you every wanted on the subject

the screen needs to be a minimum of 60". The speakers will be built in and the Panel will be hung. The A/V quipment will recess into the same wall which is the back side of an empty hollow..part of a closet, built with this media need in mind. NO wire will be showing as it all easilly accesible from behind.

Picture is more important than sound. it will be a 1080P. (My wife is a casting director, I run the studio, we look at Movies and people and detail all day long.)

60+" Plasma___________

7.1 Amp_________

Speakers to work a 21 x 13.5 room 8 ft ceilings.

DVD player__________

What do you think?

From Independance day, to Musicals we watch a lot of movies. No sports other than some baseball. It being designed as a 'chill' media room. Big secontional couches, drapes over the windows, area rug on the floor etc.

Speakers to be built into the walls or ceiling. Ther is ample room for a large speaker(s) recessed in the wall below the FP.

I'm interested in brand suggestions. Thank you for you help.

industry and will play dailies or other material off a server, I'd personally want at least 1080P (as you said) but a full 2K projector will be incredible.

I think for that large a screen you're probably going to need to look at DLP or front projector.

Plan A: $11k
- Pioneer 60" Plasma PDP-6010FD = $5k with mount and shipping.
- AVR NAD T775 7x100W = $2500 MSRP
- Speakers NHT Classic Threes x 4 + 1 Classic 3C center = $ 2600
- Toshiba A-35 1080p HD-DVD player = $500
- Velodyne DLS-4000R = $550

Plan B: $10k
Same as plan A but substitute AVR with Denon 3808 at MSRP $1600

Plan C: $7.5k
Same as plan B but substitute Plasma with Panasonic 720p (at 15' who cares?) 58" TH-58PH10UK $2500 with mount and shipping.

Plan D: $?
Ditch plasma and go the PJ route, but I don't think it's gonna be much cheaper...

p.s. I couldn't bring myself to recommend in-wall/in-ceiling speakers, even NHT ones. Sorry.

some stuff and if I was in that situation and picture was most important, I'd get the best projector I could with a basic reciever and speaker setup to start off and upgrade the sound later. I'd even consider getting a flat panel to go behind the projector screen...But for me, I want great sound & picture so I'd be screwed in this situation.

2 pairs of Magneplanar 1.6QRs, 2 used Adcom 5800s.

That's 5K.

2.4K for a Panasonic 50" 1080P plasma

One HD-A20 and one BDP-S 300. That's $800. Leaves $1800 for a nice processor and subwoofer.

Oh, by a strange co-incidence, that's very similar to mine!

his requirements. He said his priority is the picture so that's where I'd focus on making sure I got that part right before the rest. Above average receivers are relativley cheap now so that's not a problem. If you just must be so against getting a projector then sure, get a plasma or LCD that doesn't reproduce an accurate image to get by for now and get better audio components. All up to what's more important to the end user. This can be a very good option if you're willing to sacrifice picture quality because audio gear is really good right now, whereas video gear is still improving at a much higher rate.

I love the Artisan stuff. Amazing is all I have to say.

$10K is easy to drop in a theater, but he can do what he wants for it easily. Just get a good high quality 720p 55-60" plasma and you will save some there. 1080p is gonna cost you and not worth it IMHO.

Yeah, spend some money on Medai Center. That's where to put your money, but that is gonna cost some $$$.
