I've recently seen commercials tying Tivo back into Directv. I'm chomping at the bit to get HD but the wife demands the ease of use of the Tivo box.

Any info? I've seen nothing on the website as of yet.

It came out a couple of years ago, but I don't think you can get it anymore.

I'm sure some people here can give you feedback on the NDS designed HD MPEG-4 DVR that DirecTV leases now.

Unless I'm missing a feature, the HR20 doesn't seem to do that, it just records whatever I schedule. Otherwise, I agree, it's faster and just as simple to use.

I have not seen or heard it.

Directv has its own DBR now. As Driving Excitement said - it is being phased out due to the fact it will not pick up the new MPEG-4 HD channels.

but it is a feature that's gone now. The other thing I miss is the ability to hack the device, but that's another story :)

kinda makes we wonder, why did they even bother?

I emailed customer service at DTV and the reply stated the HR20 has many of the features of a tivo box, yada yada yada.

I'm not interested in the HR20...it's either got to be tivo or a vastly improved DVR.
